The ancient church of S. Stephen had rebuilt in baroque forms. Pregevole is
the floor of the better altar to [tarsie] of marbles much colorate, from the
Roman Jovis villa. The 300' chartreuse of S. James, in succession
reconstructed, noblest construction of the island stays and has destined to entertain a
international cultural center. The church has Gothic portal; the inland is to
a [navata]. Nearby it is the convent that contains the 400'
small cloister, [porticato], on which they are elevated the castle
of the Clock, baroque, and the [cinquecentesco] big cloister, with
portico to pillars.
